Blue Angels Fat Albert on take off

Blue Angels Fat Albert on take off Affectionately dubbed "Fat Albert," and actually operated by the U.S. Marine Corps, the C-130 Hercules that the Blue Angels use for hauling all their ancillary equipment from one show to the next used to be a crowd pleaser in its own right when it would initiate a short take off with a set of JATO jet motors (JATO = Jet Assisted Take Off). However, the current Fat Albert is one of the latest C-130s, whose engines develop so much thrust that they no longer need the JATO rockets. As can be seen in the photo, the current Fat Albert is certainly capable of a very sharp incline during take off, certainly equal to what it did with the JATOs. And no, I did NOT slant the camera to exaggerate the take-off angle. Promise!
